Le Langhe Artisan Deli

We first tasted Le Langhe’s fresh egg tagliatelle back in 2002, and we haven’t forgotten how good it is… Thirteen years later and we are delighted to bring it to your dinner table!

Le Langhe is an artisan deli located in the heart of York. Established in 2002 by Italian-born Ottavio (Otto), Le Langhe started from a tiny premises in the shadow of York Minster. Its reputation grew quickly as has its customer following and Le Langhe now occupies larger premises on Peasholme Green, close to the River Foss. The name is inspired by the beautiful Langhe hills in the Piedmont region at the foot of the Alps in northern Italy. Just like Yorkshire, Piedmont is an area renowned for its unique and special food ingredients. The chefs at Le Langhe serve up authentic tasting, small-scale quality foods every day, taking great pride in preparing home-cooked, hand-made food. The fresh egg tagliatelle in this recipe is made on the premises each morning in the tried and tested traditional Italian way and it’s truly magnificent.

Don’t just take our word for it, local chef Giacomino Hazan says: “The Hazan family have written dozen of books on food. I am told that my pasta dishes are the best in Yorkshire. Until yesterday. Ottavio’s hand-made pasta is by far the best I have ever eaten and it beats mine for its lightness. I have to tell Ottavio,”Bacio la mano” as they say in Napoli (“I kiss the hand that made this”)”. Le Langhe has a special Michelin BIB Gourmand award for offering “exceptional good food at moderate prices”. You can also find them in the Michelin and Waitrose Good Food Guides 2015. As well as the deli, Le Langhe has a cosy dining room and an outdoor terrace.
