The Black Cat Bistro

Welcoming Liam & Sophie from The Black Cat Bistro to our SNAP family

We are very lucky to have teamed up with the incredibly talented Yorkshire chef, Liam Root, who has created all the amazing, tasty recipes for our upcoming Yorkshire recipe boxes. Liam and his partner Sophie run The Black Cat Bistro, a small and intimate restaurant located in the centre of Holmfirth.

They serve French inspired home-style cuisine and pride themselves on sourcing their ingredients locally around Holmfirth and further afield in Yorkshire. Everything they serve is made in house. If produce cannot be sourced locally, then they use ingredients that are sourced ethically or Fairtrade. The Black Cat Bistro is an active member of Holme Valley Fairtrade, working hard to promote and celebrate all things Fairtrade within Holmfirth and the Holme Valley.

The Black Cat Bistro offers a traditional Yorkshire roast dinner the first Sunday of every month,  complete with all the trimmings (small £9, large £13) served from 12 noon until 7.30pm and an Early Bird special with 15% off your total food bill every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 5.30pm and 6.30pm. If you fancy starting the weekend in style, check out Thirsty Thursdays, simply share the offer on facebook or twitter, book ahead and receive a free drink with your meal. Liam & Sophie work closely with a local sommelier offering customers a selection of fine French wines and a guest world wine that changes every month. House beers are from Squawk Brewing Company in Salford and guest beers come from local Yorkshire craft brewers Fresh Island Brewing and Here Be Monsters.

Customers love that they can choose from an extensive vinyl collection and pick the soundtrack they dine to. With over 150 records to choose from ranging from The Beatles to Blondie; Etta James to Elton John, there’s something for everyone!

Liam says:

‘We are strong believers that what makes us successful is the combination of a dedicated kitchen team, great customer service and fresh, local ingredients, as well as an intimate dining setting. Our menus are based on seasonal produce with an evening menu that changes every week according to the availability of ingredients. We are proud to say that our suppliers are local to the restaurant, ensuring high-quality, locally sourced meals on your plate every time. We are very excited to be working with SNAP Recipebox and believe they are the perfect fit sharing our values of using locally-sourced, ethical and Fairtrade ingredients in their recipe boxes.’

The team here at SNAP Recipebox can’t recommend The Black Cat Bistro highly enough for a fantastic Yorkshire welcome, great hospitality and incredible food.
